MASSIMO: IL MIO CINEMA SECONDO ME

On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the death of Massimo Troisi, the Tolfa Short Film Fest is proud to screen the documentary "MASSIMO. My cinema according to me" directed by Raffaele Virzillo, screenplay by Antonella Coluccia, Pier Francesco Corona and Raffaele Veneruso, produced by Verdiana Bixio and Publispei in collaboration with Rai Cinema.

The film is a project born from the desire to reveal the idea that Troisi had about his cinema: its role, its responsibility of the author and his conception of direction and production.  A documentary full of pictures of unusual repertoire, supported by the beautiful pictures of Mario Tursi and the notes of Pino Daniele who wanted to honor his friend with a valuable reinterpretation of the song Qualcosa arriverà
The film, which starts from an interview given by Troisi in 1993 for a thesis, is a confidential and introspective path, which shows the philosophy of an artist much more complex and deep than the simple actor Troisi; a documentary capable of turning the interview monologue into a kind of imaginary dialogue with the testimonies of other professionals and the memories of those who worked with him.
Anna Pavignano: His main insight was to know how to find the funny side in any aspect of life ...
Massimo Bonetti: It was impossible not to understand what he wanted. And he made you understand with a serenity, simplicity ...
Maria Grazia Cucinotta: He did not build you. He wanted you to be as close as possible to reality ...
The voice of Massimo accompanies us for 50 minutes with a familiar and haunting tone, giving us a 'secret' Troisi , the other side of the character that gave us laughter and poetry. While maintaining full consistency with his truth of man and his relation to his artistic legacy. Without ever falling into the celebration, but trying to get the full value of one of the most important figures of Italian cinema of the past 20 years, to justify even more the admiration and affection that surrounds it.
